The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet presented its annual Rural Secondary Program report for Fiscal Year 2024 to Caldwell County Fiscal Court Tuesday morning regarding funding allotments and paving projects.
KYTC Section Engineer, Charlotte Cotton said this year’s total allocation for Caldwell County is $726,899 with the flex portion which the county can opt to keep or let KYTC put into a project in the amount of $209,418. She added the KYTC’s state rural secondary portion of $517,488.
Cotton said a project that she has recommended for paving this year on rural secondary with limited funds is approximately 3.69 miles on KY 672 with a cost of over $510,000.
click to download audioShe also presented an option for the flex funds that would be used for a portion of KY 128 with a cost of more than $207,000, if magistrates opt to do so.

District 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone inquired about the status of KY 293 North, which Cotton confirmed had already been awarded.

In other new business, magistrates unanimously approved HB 1 County Clerk election equipment grant request in the amount of $117,175, payment of the clerk for preparation of motor vehicle/boat tax bills at a cost of approximately $2,802. Magistrates also appointed Linda Harper as County Treasurer and approved a motion to advertise for Fiscal Year 2024 ambulance service bids.
