City-County Park To Receive $250K Grant For Improvements

Governor Andy Beshear has selected 37 projects throughout the state to receive funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, including a revitalization project at the City-County Park in Princeton.
The governor’s office announced Thursday that the City of Princeton will receive $250,000 to revitalize two baseball/softball fields, replace fencing needs, and the dugout structures, bleachers, and utility poles for lighting at the City-County Park.
The Land and Water Conservation Fund, funded by the federal government, has allotted Kentucky’s communities $3.9 million to make outdoor and health-related improvements, such as replacing playground equipment, constructing walking paths, and ensuring recreational facilities are ADA-compliant.
Governor Beshear has stated that all Kentucky residents should have access to safe, well-maintained outdoor areas for recreation with their loved ones, and he has proudly highlighted the projects he proposed at the beginning of his tenure that have been making our parks better for years. He emphasized that his administration will continue to make our public parks a priority across Kentucky.
Projects in Mortons Gap in Hopkins County and Webster County were also selected by the governor. Mortons Gap will use $30,000 to purchase and install accessible playground equipment for the city park, which also includes rubber surfacing and burial of one utility line. Webster County Fiscal Court will use $128,867 to develop a new county park.
