The Caldwell County 4-H Sharpshooters are actively practicing each week with the target of learning safety in working with the tools involved in the sport.
They have been practicing for over a month and are already hitting over 70 percent of their targets. The shooters are participating in 2 different areas including trap shooting and archery.
Leslie Perdue is one of the coordinators of the Sharpshooters and has around 35 students involved in the weekly practice.

Perdue explained that participants are not required to have knowledge of the sport and the leaders will teach them how to shoot.
click to download audioAnnette Witherspoon is a leader in the archery side of the shooting and said students are trained according to age and that safety is a major part of their training too.
