Tuesday night was Class Night for the graduating class of Caldwell County High School.
Many seniors were recognized and presented with scholarships and other awards during the program held at the high school’s Fine Arts Building.
High School Guidance Counselor Janet Latham is proud of the class and said they had done well in achieving thousands of dollars in scholarships.
Sarah Barnes is also a Guidance Counselor at the high school and shared that one thing that stands out to her about this class, that being their leadership and love for each other. She also appreciates all the support the community has shown to the graduates.
The program opened with the invocation given by Camden McGregor followed by several groups of students being introduced and brought to the front of the stage to be recognized for their academic achievements and accomplishments.
Class President Sydney McKinney gave her departing speech explaining one word she felt described the Class of 2023 and that being “perseverance.”
Emma Peake then spoke as President of the National Honor Society. She shared memories from the first day of school for the graduating class to special times they experienced through the years. She then said it was now time for them to take the next step in life.
Community members, civic clubs, businesses, colleges, and individuals then presented various students with scholarships as a reward for their hard work to help them with their future.
Principal Aaron McClung was glad to have a special night to recognize students for their academic commitments.
Graduation for the Class of 2023 will be Friday, May 19th at 7:30 PM at the high school football stadium.
