Caldwell County Fiscal Court magistrates approved the first reading of the Fiscal Year 2024 budget during Tuesday’s meeting.
Judge/Executive Kota Young presented some of the highlights of the over $13.1 million budget.
Young told Your News Edge there is an over $4 million increase to this year’s budget because of storm cleanup following the December 10, 2021, EF-4 tornado.
This is Young’s first-time helping to draft the Caldwell County budget, previously serving as the Mayor of Princeton for four years. He shared some of the challenges with this budget.
The second reading of the budget will come at the next Caldwell County Fiscal Court meeting. If passed, the budget becomes effective on Saturday, July 1.
