Edge Media Group Acquiring Todd County’s WEKT

Todd County native Beth Mann’s The Edge Media Group to take over WEKT 1070 AM, pending FCC approval.

Ham Broadcasting Company, Inc, locally known as The Edge Media Group, is continuing to grow with the addition of an area radio station to its media lineup.
The company has entered into an agreement to purchase WEKT 1070 AM in Elkton.
To President/CEO Beth Mann, the new addition serves as a homecoming, as the company takes over programming duties on Saturday, July 1.
Mann says WEKT will follow the same traditions of WKDZ, WHVO, and WPKY, as being a community-driven radio station.

That community commitment will come with a twist, as Mann wants to include students from Todd County Schools in the operation, so they can learn more about the medium.

Mann adds the station will be run by The Edge Media Group’s ‘Futures Team.’

The transaction will not be completed until the Edge Media Group receives consent from the Federal Communications Commission.
WEKT originally signed on the air as WSRG in 1977, under the ownership of Jim White. The call letters switched to WOAM in 1988 and became WEKT the following year when Marshall Sidebottom purchased the station. WEKT is now under the ownership of Marshall’s son Brian Sidebottom.
Mann is a native of Todd County, having resided there with her family during all of her early childhood. She’s owned The Edge Media Group since 2015, and has been in the business of local media since 1983 — beginning at TV43 in Hopkinsville before transitioning to radio and broadcast journalism.
