Police Arrest Eddyville Man Wearing Stolen Shoes

An Eddyville man was charged with theft and other charges after Princeton Police said he tried to walk away from Shoe Sensation wearing a new pair of shoes he did not pay for.
Assistant Chief Shane Allison said officers located 41-year-old Derek Smith walking on U.S. 62. Their investigation determined Smith entered the store, replaced the shoes he was wearing with a new pair, and then walked out without paying. Allison said Smith was wearing the shoes when they stopped him.
He was arrested and charged with theft and resisting arrest when Allison said Smith tried to pull away from officers while they were taking him into custody.
Smith was also served a Lyon County arrest warrant charging him with second-degree fleeing police and third-degree criminal trespassing.
