Two local youth groups gave back to the community Sunday afternoon.
If you happened to be in the area of Princeton Memorial Garden or Cedar Hill Cemeteries you would have seen numerous youths spread across the grounds picking up American flags.
The effort was put together by a volunteer group known as the Cemetery Preservation Group consisting of Kevin Lane, Carolyn Traum, Rick Blackburn, and Steve Ray.
Lane explained they saw several flags that were either blown over or fallen onto the ground and were in need of being picked up and preserved.
click to download audioLane in turn reached out to the local youth groups and they volunteered their time to come and pick up the flags to be given to the group to maintain for future use.
One of the groups was the Princeton Ducks softball team. Brittany McGregor serves as one of the coaches for the team and felt it was a good way for the young ladies to give back to the community.

click to download audioThe other group to help with the project was the Caldwell County 4-H Sharpshooters. Coach Daniel Mayes said it was important for them to be a part of the community that supports them.
click to download audioThe cemeteries that the groups helped clean are both owned by the City of Princeton. Both youth groups were assisted by their coaches and parents.
