An Owensboro woman faces various charges after officers were called to Walmart Tuesday evening for a shoplifting complaint.
The Princeton Police Department reported officers were called to the store on U.S. Highway 62 West just before 8:00 PM. The suspect, 36-year-old Melissa M. Mann, left the store in a white Toyota Camry. Officers located the vehicle traveling west on U.S. 62 and proceeded to catch up to her. Mann pulled into a gravel driveway at 10418 U.S. 62 West and abandoned the vehicle.
Officers found her hiding in a nearby barn. Further investigation revealed that Mann had loaded a shopping cart with approximately $669 worth of merchandise and left without paying. During a records check, the registration on her vehicle was canceled for no insurance.
Mann was taken into custody and charged with shoplifting, no registration plates, and no insurance. After being processed at the Caldwell County Jail, staff found drug paraphernalia on her, and she was subsequently charged with promoting contraband.
