When students arrive for the beginning of the 2023-24 school year at the Caldwell Regional Career Center they will see a new face greeting them as principal.
Zach Thomas started the position on July 1 and comes from Lyon County Schools, where he taught for the past 11 years and also served as the district’s athletic director for the last four years.
Thomas explained he was drawn to the principal position because of his experience in engineering and technology education.
Thomas has two personal goals for his first year as principal of the school, they include branding and student attendance
He stresses the courses and skills offered at the center are very important and in great demand.
Thomas stated the main goal of the school is to produce quality students, as they become adults and enter their professional life or workforce.
Thomas invites anyone interested in what is offered at the school to drop by and visit, as they will soon host an open house.
Thomas is eager to get to work and wants to continue the high standard of education that has been accomplished in the past.
Thomas graduated from high school in 2007 in Flora, Illinois, and went on to attend Lakeland Jr. College to obtain his Associate’s. He then attended Murray State University to graduate in 2011 with a degree in education. Thomas married Jessica Dunn and moved to her hometown of Eddyville in 2019, where they currently reside with their two children.
The Caldwell Regional Career Center is open to students in the Caldwell, Crittenden, Lyon, Dawson Springs Independent, and Trigg County Public School systems, as well as homeschool students from those communities.
