The Princeton Optimist Club has announced that Melissa and John Earnest have been selected to serve as the grand marshals for the Black Patch Festival this year.
Optimist Club President George Kilgore said the club looks for individuals to honor as grand marshals that have been active and contributed to the community over the years.
Kilgore added that Melissa has been active in the educational system and civic groups for many years.
John has served the community and the Optimist Club, by donating his time in various roles.
Kilgore said that both suffered greatly from the December 2021 tornado, as they lost their home and endured physical injuries.
The Optimist Club encourages everyone to take the time to thank Melissa and John for their commitment and dedication to our community.
The 2023 Black Patch Festival will take over downtown Princeton on Saturday, September 9, with the beloved parade taking place the night before.
