Former Caldwell County Coroner, Noted Horse Showman Jerry Clift Dies at 79

Funeral services for former Caldwell County coroner and noted horse showman Jerry Clift will be Sunday at Morgan’s Funeral Home. Clift died Thursday at his home at the age of 79.
After graduation from Fredonia High School, Clift began a 39-year career at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with the Morgan family credited with instilling his work ethic and job dedication to his craft.
Clift also served as Caldwell County coroner for 12 years.
As a teenager, Clift began shoeing horses and took great pleasure in trading and showing horses and hosting trail rides. It was a passion he passed down to his daughter Mary K., an accomplished horse rider and champion rider.
Clift is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Elaine Moyers Clift; daughter, Mary Kathleen Clift and Mark Thomas of Princeton; brother, Joe Russell Clift and Saundra of Savannah, Tennessee; and his Amish family.
Funeral services for Jerry Clift will be Sunday at 2:00 at Morgan’s Funeral Home with visitation scheduled for Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.
