Jerry Clift, age 79, of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at his home.
Jerry was born on July 11, 1944, in Caldwell County to the late Russell and Mary Franklin Clift. Jerry started school at Flat Rock Grade School and graduated from Fredonia High School. Following graduation, Jerry began what would be a thirty-nine-year career at Morgan’s Funeral Home. The Morgan family, Hewlett, John, Dick, Virginia, Jim, and Bill, all played major roles in Jerry’s life. They helped him establish his work ethic; of hard work, dedication to his job, serving, showing kindness, and accommodation towards the individuals who walked through the doors at Morgan’s. Jerry also served as the Caldwell County Coroner for twelve years.
Jerry began shoeing horses at the age of sixteen and continued until Multiple Sclerosis took over his life. Jerry took great pleasure in shoeing, trading, showing horses, and hosting trail rides. He had a great appreciation and collection of horse-drawn vehicles. Jerry developed and cherished many long-lasting friendships during his life at the funeral home, horse, and Amish Communities. He truly worked hard and played hard. Jerry attended Central Presbyterian Church in Princeton.
Jerry is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Elaine Moyers Clift; daughter, Mary Kathleen Clift and Mark Thomas of Princeton; brother, Joe Russell Clift and Saundra of Savannah, TN; his Amish family.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Clift.
