Dogs Need Adopting At The Caldwell County Animal Shelter

Alani: Up for adoption at the Caldwell County Animal Shelter

Seven puppies and one kitten were adopted through two Caldwell County Animal Shelter events since last Thursday.
According to Jess Smith with the shelter, it usually takes two to three weeks for those numbers to be adopted at the shelter.
The shelter currently houses around 50 dogs, all of which need adopting or fostering.

Smith says it’s a common misconception that older, adult dogs can’t adjust as well as puppies. Older dogs are just as capable of learning and being trained, but many older dogs are less likely to be adopted than a younger option.

She adds dogs who require medication are less likely to be adopted as well.

Along with monetary donations, they also accept housekeeping items to help maintain the shelter.

Smith adds they can always use dog food, specifically Chicken and Rice Purina Pro One dry dog food, which can be found at Tractor Supply.
All donations can be dropped off at the shelter at 489 Baker Hill Road behind the City-County Park.
