Eddyville Man Arrested After Running Into Police Cruiser


An Eddyville man is facing multiple charges after he ran his vehicle into a police cruiser after he was found unresponsive Saturday morning near the intersection of Days Inn Drive and U.S. 62 West.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White, Eddyville Police Sergeant Shannon Oliver, and Lyon County EMS responded to the report of an unresponsive driver in a vehicle near the intersection around 10:45 Saturday morning. Officials say their initial attempts to wake the driver were unsuccessful, with the vehicle locked and running. When Sgt. Oliver attempted to get into the vehicle through the passenger’s side window, the driver woke up and ran his vehicle into Sgt. Oliver’s police cruiser.
Sheriff White arrested 54-year old Brent C. Bennett and charged him with DUI-first offense, Criminal Mischief-1st Degree for damaging the police cruiser, Possession of Methamphetamine-1st degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Improper Parking and Blocking a Highway. Benett was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
