Monday Storm Causes Flooding to Princeton Streets (w/PHOTOS)

A late Monday afternoon storm pelted Princeton and Caldwell County with more than an inch and a half of rain in less than an hour and caused flooding on some city streets.
The National Weather Service issued its first severe thunderstorm warning for the northern part of the county at 2:44. Then followed two separate severe thunderstorm warnings at 3:48 and 3:58. Power was knocked out to the southern part of the county and much of Princeton with the second set of storms.
Caldwell County Emergency Management Coordinator Joey McCaslin said there was a report of a few trees down but no structural damage.

That resulted in streets in Princeton flooding under the weight of the heavy storms. McCaslin said high water at the South Jefferson underpass led to a water rescue by the Princeton Police Department.
