Jerry Arthur Childers, age 73, of Dawson Springs, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Dawson Springs Health & Rehab in Dawson Springs. Mr. Childers was born on January 21, 1950, in Logan, WV to the late Arthur Childers and Virginia Dillingham Childers. Jerry was a graduate of Dawson Springs High School and was a member of the Dawson Springs Baptist Temple. He worked as a coal miner and retired as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Penitentiary.
He is survived by his daughter ~ Elizabeth Halverson of Dawson Springs, and his son ~ Jerry Wayne Childers of Dawson Springs, ten grandchildren ~ Bradleigh Sutherland, Ryne Bruch, David Price, Angel Morgan, Zack Childers, Alisha Wallace, Brandi Childers, Buffy Childers, Logan Halverson and Christopher Childers; six great-grandchildren ~ Elizabeth Dunbar, Weston Sutherland, Kane Lisowski, Lukas Hamlet, Kaylena Wallace and Maria Haire.
Mr. Childers is preceded in death by his parents; his wife ~ Delores McBride Childers; and a sister ~ Charlotte Farr.
Visitation for Jerry Arthur Childers will be on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs with Rev. Donnie Howton and Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs. Mason Rites will be conducted on Friday evening, August 4, 2023, at 7:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home.
