Pollyanne Kimmel has begun the new school year being named the assistant principal at the Caldwell County Middle School.
The Sturgis, Kentucky native, and Union County High School graduate didn’t decide to pursue a career in education until she was a student at Southern Indiana University where she received her Bachelor’s degree.
click to download audioKimmel began teaching in Texas where she accompanied her husband for employment reasons. Even though she did her student teaching in the middle school setting she was hired to teach first grade. She remained teaching primary and elementary-age students for 16 years including in Trigg and Caldwell counties. She felt the need to move to the middle school while working with students at her church and transferred to the local middle school where she taught for 4 years.
click to download audioShe has fond memories of teaching younger students. When moving to the middle school she had the pleasure to teach students she previously had in class at the Caldwell County Primary School. She enjoyed seeing how the students grow as they move through the school system.
click to download audioKimmel taught at the middle school for 4 years before moving to Madisonville to be closer to her husband’s work. She taught in a middle school there for 2 years before returning to Caldwell last year to serve as the middle school curriculum coordinator. She understands the importance of serving as a teacher or administrator and wants to build trust between the school and parents.

click to download audioKimmel holds two Master’s Degrees from Murray State University in Teacher Leadership and Administration. She and her husband Tom currently live in Madisonville where they attend First United Methodist Church and are parents of two adult children.
