The Caldwell County Animal Shelter recently received an unexpected gift.
Five-year-old Blake of Caldwell County raised $302.54 for the dogs at the shelter with his lemonade stand over the weekend.
The Lesnick family later matched his funds and challenged others to do the same. Since then, Miranda Dental of Princeton also matched Blake’s donation, making the total sum $907.64.
Jess Smith with the animal shelter says Blake will turn six on Aug. 12 and challenges the community to donate to the shelter in his name for his birthday.
Donations can be brought to the shelter or mailed to 489 Baker Hill Rd. in Princeton.
Smith says the shelter is always in need of food donations as well.
