Caldwell County High School hosted freshmen orientation Tuesday night inviting the students and their parents to the campus to become familiar with the building and routine they will be a part of for the next four years.
The students first met with the school administration in the Fine Arts Building for a preview of the guidelines they are expected to follow during the transition into high school. The students were then divided into groups and given a tour of the building, to see the layout of the building, and to help find their lockers and classrooms.
High School Principal Daniel Kukihiko said the purpose of the orientation is to settle any fears or concerns that either the students or parents might have about moving to high school.
He added they wanted incoming students to have a good impression of the school.
Kukihiko explained that students need to be prepared to be given a lot of information in the first days of the school year.
Principal Kukihiko said if anyone missed the orientation they could contact the school at (270) 365-8010, with any questions.
New to this year’s freshmen orientation, the Caldwell Regional Career Center opened its building to showcase what classes students can take while attending Caldwell County High School.
Career Center Principal Zach Thomas said he wanted to be involved and was pleased his staff was eager to join in and host the students and parents.
Thomas said enrollment numbers at the career center are looking good.
He added that while Tuesday night was for freshmen, they invite upperclassmen to stop by for a visit anytime.
The Caldwell County Regional Career Center is planning an open house for the community on October 26.
