Caldwell County Middle School opened its doors Tuesday night for its annual open house for students entering the 7th and 8th grades.
Students and parents were welcome to visit the school and pick up schedules, meet teachers, and complete any paperwork required before the beginning of the new school year.
Principal Dr. Tim Roy said the open house is different than the 6th-grade orientation because the upper-grade students are already familiar with the building and the routine of the school.
Orientation for the incoming 6th graders was held on Monday night and Dr. Roy added it was more formal and focused on giving both the students and parents a better understanding of the layout of the building and what to expect this school year.
Judy Robinson, who attended the open house with her grandson, said she felt everything was in good shape for school to begin.
Incoming 7th grader Spencer Robinson said he’s looking forward to seeing his friends and teachers.
Dr. Roy said he wants both students and parents to feel comfortable when attending or sending their students to the middle school. He added he wants everyone to know he realizes the importance of a safe environment and is committed to providing that kind of atmosphere for students to achieve their potential.
Dr. Roy said his staff does a good job at monitoring the building and students and stresses that communication is essential between the school, students, and parents.
Dr. Roy said there was a great response with attendance at both the orientation and open house. If you missed the open house at Caldwell County Middle School, you can contact the school with any questions at (270) 365-8020.
