The Lyon County Senior Citizens Center and the Livingston County Senior Citizens Center recently participated in the Be Red Cross Ready disaster/emergency preparedness training.
Officials with the Pennyrile Area Development District reported last week that representatives with the American Red Cross and AARP presented information on preparations for floods, severe weather, and home fires. Participants were given the opportunity to sign up for smoke detector installation through the American Red Cross. In addition, AARP provided oversized plastic storage bags for important document storage – such as personal ID documents, financial/legal documents, household information/contacts and medical documents – in the event of a senior citizen needing to evacuate their home due to a natural disaster or emergency.
