The Caldwell County FFA Alumni chapter held its regular meeting at the high school agriculture classroom Monday night.
The group heard reports from the State FFA Convention and FFA Camp. Advisor Megan Woods updated the alumni on upcoming activities planned for the local FFA Chapter. Woods and Advisor Parker Jennings will be transporting state fair entries including tobacco, corn, and wheat to the Kentucky State Fair Tuesday and then 16 students will be competing at the fair in Louisville later this week.
Advisor Jennings shared what contests the chapter will be entering at the Kentucky State Fair.
The annual Farm to Plate program will be at the end of September with the local chapter educating elementary students on where their food comes from. He added the program is a good experience for all involved.
Agriculture classes at Caldwell County High School are “bursting at the seams.”
Jennings said he is especially happy to have some new equipment in the agriculture shop.
The local FFA chapter is planning to host its annual Petal Tractor Pull and assist with the petting zoo at the Black Patch Festival on Saturday, September 9. Two FFA students will also attend the Rising Sun Leadership Conference in September. The alumni will be sponsoring the Rising Sun Sausage and Sorghum program again this year, with proceeds to benefit the Caldwell County High School FFA Chapter.
The Caldwell County FFA Alumni Chapter is open to anyone who would like to support them, with its next meeting scheduled for Monday, October 9, at 5:00 PM, in the agriculture classroom.
