During a special-called meeting Wednesday morning, Caldwell County magistrates approved a resolution adopting the execution of a memorandum of agreement to receive funds to improve some roads in the county.
As previously reported by WPKY, Governor Andy Beshear announced that the county is among 24 municipalities to receive discretionary transportation funding from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Department of Highways.
The $374,496 to be awarded will go to help resurface Scottsburg Road, Sugar Creek Church Road, and Friendship Road. In the county’s application, Judge-Executive Kota Young said the roadways were so riddled with potholes, cracking, and base failures that they posed “travel impediments and safety hazards to the constituents who utilize them on a daily basis for residential, commercial, school and general travel purposes.”
The Caldwell County funding is among the $3.4 million dollars announced by Governor Beshear last week.
