Annual Constitution Week Reading And Bell Ringing Ceremony Held At Big Springs Park

The annual reading and ringing of the bell for Constitution Week took place at Big Springs Park in Caldwell County on Sunday afternoon.
The event, organized by the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter, featured the reading of amendments, facts, and other important documents related to the Constitution.
The ceremony began with a presentation of the colors and the Bill of Rights, followed by the recitation of the pledge and other significant documents. Attendees also stood and recited the creed. The entire presentation lasted around 20 minutes.
Organizer Maggie Gammon told Your WPKY News Edge that the DAR has sponsored Constitution Week since 1955.

She added that the Constitution is taught to students in fifth grade in Kentucky.

New to this year’s event, the Bells Across America program, where bells rang across the nation at 3:00 PM. The Liberty-type bell used for the ceremony belonged to the Sons of the American Revolution, specifically Robert Ward. Gammon rang the bell 13 times, symbolizing each of the original colonies and marking the beginning of Constitution Week.
During the ceremony, it was also announced that a resident of Caldwell County is soon to become a U.S. citizen.
