Property Tax Bills To Be Mailed Out Next Month

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office will begin mailing out tax bills next month for residents in both the city of Princeton and the county.
Melissa Peek with the sheriff’s office said the bills go out in October with payments to be received starting November 1.

Peek encourages taxpayers to get the bills paid for early to receive discounts and not late penalties.

Peek said the sheriff’s office will be able to accept credit card payments this year with a new feature.

Peek also said the sheriff’s office will stay open later on a couple of dates to assist those who may work late into the afternoon and evening and can’t make it into the office before closing.

Peek also encouraged property owners 65 and older to use the homestead exemption to help them save more on their tax bill.

Collecting taxes is one of the main duties of the sheriff’s office in the state of Kentucky. She said last year, the tax collection rate was high which helps fund city and county governments.

Peek encouraged everyone to pay their property taxes early and not get stuck either paying a late fee or getting caught up in the Christmas money crunch.
