Wayne Edward McKinney, age 83, of Lyon County passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at his home. Wayne was born May 11, 1940, to Quille and Lubie McKinney of Mayfield, KY.
He worked at Florsheim shoe factory and Paducah Police Department and ran a BP gas station in Lyon County. He played drums in his younger years and later on in his church. He was a member and deacon at Fredonia Pentecostal Church. Wayne was licensed and ordained by The United Christian Church & Ministerial Association of Cleveland, Tennessee to preach and teach. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his wife and dog and the people he loved.
Survivors include his wife, Janet McKinney, Lyon Co., KY; two daughters, Susan Riddle and April Skinner, both of Benton, KY; three sons, Danny Morefield, Benton, KY; John Lathan, IL and Joe Lathan, Aurora, KY. eight grandchildren, Kevin James, Billy Terrell, Randy McKinney, Josh Skinner, Blake Skinner, Brandy Hastings, Brittany Elliott, Kenzie McKinney, eight great-grandchildren, Alan, Adien, Gunner, Biar, Layson, Ivy, Piper, and Augustus and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Williamson; one son, Randy McKinney, two sisters, Bobbie Holmes and Linda Crass; one brother, Bonnie Joe McKinney; one grandson, Zack Latham and one niece, Barbara Greer.
Visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, KY. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 30, at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Chaplain Reed Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville, KY.
