Caldwell County Fiscal Court magistrates were presented updates on the Halloween Scavenger Hunt, dry conditions, and paving projects during Tuesday morning’s meeting.
Judge-Executive Kota Young announced at the meeting that a record number of businesses will participate in the upcoming Halloween Scavenger Hunt, scheduled for Tuesday.

In other reports, Fire Chief Brent Francis highlighted the dry conditions and urged residents to exercise extra caution when engaging in any burning activities.

District 4 Magistrate Jeff Simms informed the residents that the paving projects have been facing delays. He mentioned that if the delays continue they will recommend moving the paving projects to the spring.
click to download audioDistrict 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone reiterated Simms’ remarks regarding the delays in paving. He emphasized that Caldwell County Road Supervisor David Waldrum and his crew have prepared the roads for paving on two separate occasions, and the lack of progress is not due to any lack of willingness, capability, or effort on their part. Unfortunately, he added it has proven challenging to get contractors to undertake these smaller projects.
