Caldwell County Elementary School Among America’s Healthiest Schools for 2022-2023


Caldwell County Elementary School has been recognized as one of the 781 schools across the nation to receive the prestigious title of “America’s Healthiest Schools” for the 2022-2023 school year. According to a release, Caldwell County Elementary School has been honored with prestigious recognition from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a prominent organization dedicated to children’s health. This accolade celebrates the school’s unwavering dedication to fostering the health and well-being of its students, staff, and families.
This year, officials with Alliance for a Healthier Generation, say Caldwell County Elementary School was recognized for the following topic:
– TOPIC 1: Bolstering Physical Education & Activity
Despite the numerous challenges faced by schools today, such as learning loss, declining youth mental health due to traumatic events like school shootings, vaping and nicotine addiction, curriculum changes, and school meal insecurity, officials commended Caldwell County Elementary School for its commitment to prioritizing healthy policies and practices. To ensure the maintenance and promotion of good health, officials indicate the local elementary school has consistently upheld certain practices. These include offering daily recess, ensuring a minimum of 150 minutes of physical education per week, and integrating classroom physical activity into the school day.
Caldwell County Schools’ Food Service Director, Aaron McClung, emphasized their ongoing efforts to combat childhood obesity by prioritizing increased physical activity for students throughout the day. He expressed his pride in CCES for being recognized by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
