Fredonia Man Convicted on Sexual Abuse Charge

A Fredonia man has been convicted of first-degree sexual abuse by a Caldwell County jury.
According to court documents, Raymon Vinson was found guilty by twelve jurors on Tuesday, October 24th in Caldwell County Circuit Court. Vinson was represented by attorney Mark Ashburn and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jill Giordano prosecuted the case and presented evidence.
During the penalty phase, the jury heard from one witness in mitigation of Vinson’s sentence and then retired to the jury room to deliberate. When jurors returned, they recommended a sentence of 10 years.
Vinson was indicted on a first-degree sexual abuse charge on September 2, 2022, by a Caldwell County grand jury. According to the indictment, Vinson subjected another person to sexual contact who was incapable of consent because the victim was under 12-years old.
On September 6, 2022, Vinson was arrested on an indictment warrant by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
Vinson is scheduled for final sentencing on Tuesday, December 5, at 1:00 p.m. in Caldwell Circuit Court.
