Yvonne Armstrong, age 86, of Princeton, passed away on October 28, 2023, at Murray Calloway County Hospital.
Yvonne was born on April 17, 1937, to the late Lonnie and Hazel Spurlock Mitchell. She was a Regional Librarian with the State of Kentucky and was an expert in genealogy. Yvonne was a major contributor to several historical publications including the book she published, “Stories From Our Family Tree”. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton where she taught adult Sunday school class for over 25 years, maintained the church’s historical records and was a devoted church librarian. Yvonne was very creative and musically inclined. She could play the piano by ear and was an avid watercolorist. She also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by three sons, Brent (Lisa) Armstrong of Murray, Steve Armstrong of Mt. Juliet, TN, Kevin (Crystal) Armstrong of Friendsville, TN; “son #4”, Vance (Stacey) Beckner of Princeton; brother, Mike Mitchell of Bismark, AR; four grandchildren, Tabitha Gilliland, Angela Devine, Adam Armstrong and Logan Armstrong; nine great-grandchildren, Houston Gilliland, Elias Gilliland, Asher Gilliland, Mason Devine, Madeleine Devine, June Armstrong, Violet Armstrong, Madison Armstrong and Kevin Davis Armstrong.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Davis Armstrong, Jr.; sister, Marie Shaw; daughter-in-law, Connie Armstrong; grandson, John Zachary Armstrong.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. Dane Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
