The Caldwell County Special Olympics recently completed their bowling season and are now moving into the basketball section of the year.
Special Olympics coordinator Vickie Purcell shared they had several compete in the regional bowling competition that will be attending the State Contest.

click to download audioPurcell explained that since the local bowling alley closed they had to travel to Madisonville to practice. She thanks Melody Lanes for allowing them to use the facility each week at a very good rate. She also is grateful to Southside Baptist Church for providing a bus for the team to travel in to practice and Lydell Hudson for driving. She added there will be over 1500 Special Olympic athletes competing in the State Bowling Contest in Louisville. The tournament will also feature a dance which is a very popular activity for the group.
The athletes are now preparing for the upcoming basketball season.

click to download audioThe Winterfest Tournament will be held in the Caldwell Middle School gym and they are seeking donations to help with expenses. Sponsors will have their names listed on the tournament T-Shirts.
