Father Of UHA Student Involved In 160th Mediterranean Crash

The daughter of one of the soldiers lost during the crash of a helicopter during a refueling in the Mediterranean over the weekend is a student at University Heights Academy.

According to multiple social media posts the daughter of 34-year-old Chief Warrant Officer 2 Shane M. Barnes is an elementary student at UHA. School officials are calling for prayers for Chief Warrant Officer Barnes’ wife and children. School officials also ask the community to remember the Barnes family as they prepare to honor their fallen soldier.
Social media posts also indicate community members who want to donate money to his family during this tragic time can drop the money off at the UHA office by Monday, November 20. School officials say they plan to present the donations to Chief Warrant Officer Barnes’ family next week.
Army officials say Chief Warrant Officer Barnes was among the five soldiers who died when their MH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter was conducting an aerial refueling training when the aircraft experienced an in-flight emergency resulting in the crash.
