A store with a rich history spanning nine decades has been selected as this year’s grand marshal for the Fredonia Valley Christmas Parade. It was announced on social media Monday that Akridge Farm Supply was chosen to lead the “Light Up Fredonia” themed Christmas parade.
In October, Akridge Farm Supply commemorated its 90th anniversary. Originally established as Ruble’s Grocery in 1933, the business underwent a transformation in 1959 when Dean Akridge joined his father and established “TK Akridge and Son Farm Supply,” which is now known as “Akridge Farm Supply” in Fredonia. In 1982, Dean expanded their operations and added a second store in Eddyville.
The Fredonia Valley Parade will be held at 6:00 Friday evening. Lineup for the Christmas Parade will be between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of The Hive.
