George Coon Public Library Renovation Going Well

Representatives of the George Coon Public Library recently shared an update on the ongoing renovation project, and announced some exciting news — an extra day has been added to the Story Hour Program.

According to Director Nichelle Faughn, the renovation project at the George Coon Public Library began a couple of weeks ago. As part of this process, she noted all the books from the second floor have been relocated to the auditorium on the library’s main floor.

click to download audioFaughn is optimistic that the renovation will be finished and the second floor will be ready for use before March.

click to download audioDespite the ongoing renovations, Rebecca Poole, in charge of programming at the library, said that Story Hour will continue to take place on Tuesdays in the auditorium. And, due to its popularity, they will be adding another day for the program.

click to download audioFaughn also announced that over 90 children have enrolled in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, which serves as an extension of the Story Hour Program.

One of the final events held at the library before the renovation project was Bingo, which Poole hopes will be able to resume in the spring, as it has been a well-attended event.
