The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is once again participating in Cram the Cruiser, a community effort to collect donations of food and cash for the Hope Food Bank and toys for other local charities, including the Family Resource Center, during the holiday season.
Sheriff Brent White is encouraging the community to stop by the courthouse, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as designated retail outlets on the weekends between now and December 15th to help “cram the cruiser” that’s parked in front of these locations.
According to Sheriff White, they will accept non-perishable food items such as canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk, and juice. He says items can be placed directly in the rear of the cruiser or brought into the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office to be delivered to the Hope Food Bank, Family Resource Center, and other local charities.
Furthermore, Sheriff White said if you know of someone in the community who needs extra assistance this year whether it is food or toy needs for their children, please contact Sheriff Brent White at (270) 388-2311 or brent.white@lyonsheriff.com with this information. Sheriff White also stated that Lyon County continues to be one of the most giving communities in Western Kentucky and they are appreciative of the support the sheriff’s department receives each year toward this effort.
