A home in Princeton was damaged in a fire on Christmas night.

According to Princeton-Caldwell County Fire Chief Brent Francis, firefighters responded to a call of a structure fire at 102 Akers Avenue around 11:00 Monday night, with kids reported trapped on the second floor of the home. However, he tells WPKY’s News Edge by the time firefighters arrived on the scene the kids had safely escaped the home without injuries.

Chief Francis reports the upstairs of the two-story home suffered fire and smoke damage, with minor water damage to the downstairs of the home.

Chase Mitchell, the chaplain of the fire department, tells WPKY’s News Edge five kids and two adults were inside the home at the time of the fire. He says there were no injuries from the fire but one of the adults inside the home was transported to Caldwell Medical Center due to difficulties from smoke inhalation.

According to Mitchell, fourteen firefighters responded to the fire and were on the scene for 1.5 hours.
