Benard “Benny” Zowell Holt, a devoted servant to his community, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023, at the age of 77 in Paducah, KY. Born on November 25, 1946, in Caldwell County, KY, a former member of the Hopson Store community, Benny was a man whose kindness touched all corners of his life and the lives of those around him.
After graduating from Caldwell County High School in 1965, Benny dedicated 20 years of his life as an EMT, serving the Caldwell County community with unwavering commitment and compassion. His work was a testament to his selfless nature, as he provided care and comfort to countless individuals in their times of need. In addition to his invaluable service as an EMT, Benny also contributed 10 years of his career to Arvin Industries and Dana/Metalsa for 10 years, and he was known for his diligent work ethic and amiable demeanor.
Benny’s interests were as generous as his spirit. He spent many hours researching at the George Coon Genealogy Library, helping others uncover their family histories and connecting with his own roots. His passion for communication and community involvement shone brightly through his role as the past treasurer of the Princeton Ham Club Radio, where he fostered connections and friendships that spanned the airwaves.
A faithful attendee of Blue Spring Baptist Church, Benny’s kindness was deeply rooted in his faith and the love he shared with his congregation.
He is survived by daughter, Benita Holt of Princeton; niece, Shanna (Daniel) Williams of Trigg County; nephews, Mike (Pam) Bates of Princeton, David (Jamie) Bates of Princeton; brother-in-law, Curtis Bates of Princeton; great-nephews, David “Bubby” Bates, Brandon McCoy; great-nieces, Lindsay Bates, Candius Turpin; great-great-nieces, Unique Bates and Makenzey Turpin; beloved pets, “The Girls”, Izzy Bella and Snowball.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Betty Holt; parents, Barber and Vida Peek Holt; sister, Paula Bates.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Morgan’s Funeral Home and from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Morgan’s Funeral Home
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Morgan’s Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Sivells and Bro. Hank Cayce officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Spring Cemetery.
