Caldwell County Fiscal Court magistrates approved the appointment of the new county treasurer and a maintenance agreement with Tremcare at Thursday morning’s special called meeting.
At the Fiscal Court meeting on October 24th, the magistrates unanimously approved the hiring of Kasey Oliver as a deputy treasurer. This appointment came with the intention for Oliver to assume the county treasurer position upon the retirement of Glenda Harper at the end of this year. Judge-Executive Kota Young asked for a motion for Oliver’s appointment during Thursday’s meeting, which was unanimously approved.

In unfinished business, the magistrates approved the renewal of a maintenance agreement with Tremcare. This agreement had been previously tabled at the past two fiscal court meetings due to concerns raised by District 3 Magistrate Brent Stallins regarding unmet maintenance needs in the past.
District 4 Magistrate Jeff Simms explained that he and Stallins recently had a meeting with John Stevens with Tremcare to discuss the coverage of the maintenance agreement, the associated cost and the future needs of the courthouse.
click to download audioExpressing satisfaction with the meeting’s outcome, Simms made a motion to approve the Tremcare maintenance agreement. The motion received unanimous approval from all magistrates present, with Stallins absent from the Fiscal Court meeting.
District 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone expressed his gratitude towards Simms and Stallins for taking the initiative to meet with Stevens and address the concerns raised by the magistrates.
In other business, magistrates unanimously approved the county treasurer bond and a residential waste collection franchise agreement with GFL.
