Princeton City Council Approves Gas Franchise Bid, Receives Exciting Retailer Update

Princeton City Council voted to move forward with accepting a gas franchise bid and received an exciting update about a major retailer coming to town.

In unfinished business, Mayor Brock Thomas announced that the City had received a single gas franchise bid from Atmos Energy.

The only other item of business on the meeting agenda was the first reading of an ordinance presented by City Attorney Todd Wetzel to amend the budget for the purchase of two police vehicles for a cost of $106,000, which was sponsored by Councilman Carl Copeland.

During committee reports, Planning Commission Coordinator Jenny Clark expressed the City of Princeton and Economic Development’s excitement about the upcoming opening of a Marshalls store by The TJX Companies off US 62 West.

In addition, Clark shared her anticipation of a significant influx of visitors to the City of Princeton and Caldwell County for the upcoming April 8th eclipse.

click to download audioDuring the City Council meeting, Princeton Police Chief Chris King reported that the department’s annual Officer David Scott Memorial Toy Drive had successfully provided Christmas gifts for over 100 children.
