Red Cross Offers Additional Financial Aid For 2021 Tornado Victims

The American Red Cross is offering additional financial aid to assist individuals and families affected by the December 2021 tornadoes who are still facing significant obstacles in their recovery process.

The primary objective of the Expanded Recovery Assistance program is to extend financial support to survivors who are encountering ongoing challenges in their long-term recovery journey.

Director of Long-Term Recovery Chris McGreevy says thanks to the generosity of their donors, they can provide this additional round of financial assistance to low-income individuals and households who still haven’t recovered from the December 2021 Tornadoes. Even two years later, he said they recognize people are still trying to rebuild or find affordable housing and meet other needs. He noted this program is designed to help them further their recovery.

To be eligible for the program, an applicant needs to have been impacted by the December 2021 tornadoes, be the head of household and not listed as a household member on any other Expanded Recovery Assistance application; have damage at a primary residence, or applicant currently displaced due to the disaster; have a yearly income at or below 135% of the current Federal Poverty Guidelines, based on household size; needs financial assistance for confirmed and current unmet recovery needs resulting from the disaster; and confirmation of primary applicant’s identity and proof of residence details.

In addition, the Red Cross would also need to have done a damage assessment on the applicant’s home at the time.

The program is ending soon. If you think you might qualify, visit RedCross.org/2021tornadoes and submit the online form or call 833-583-3114 <tel:833-583-3114> to learn more.
