Caldwell County Special Olympics will host its annual Winterfest Basketball Tournament this weekend at the Caldwell County Middle School Gym.
According to Head Coach Roy Gene Rogers, the tournament will see the participation of over a dozen teams.

click to download audioKevin Lane with the Caldwell County Special Olympics also announced that the basketball tournament had achieved a record-breaking year in terms of sponsorships.
click to download audioDuring the Winterfest Tournament, Rogers said the Caldwell County team will have one game, whereas all the other teams will have two games. He mentioned that most teams are still seeking to meet the minimum game requirement to qualify for the regional tournaments, which is the initial step toward the state championships.
Rogers explained that teams are assigned to divisions based on the players understanding of the rules and skill level. In previous years, Caldwell’s two teams, the Blue and Gold team, have always been placed in separate divisions and they are hopeful that the same will happen again this year to avoid facing their teammates during the regional tournament.
The Winterfest Basketball Tournament will commence at 7:30 Saturday morning at the middle school gym. Admission is free and concessions will be available.

12 pm – Marshall 5 vs McCracken Stallions

1:30 pm – Trigg Co. vs Murray Gray
