Officials are reporting that roads in Caldwell and Lyon counties are snow-covered and slick after a winter storm moved through western Kentucky overnight.
According to Caldwell County Road Department Supervisor David Waldrum, temperatures are too low at this point for salt to have a positive effect. He says they are waiting for conditions to change favorably and will reevaluate.
Princeton Public Works Supervisor David Sullenger reported at 7:00 this morning that city streets are slick and they are starting to get the plows out on the roads. He asks motorists to please be patient and give them plenty of room to work on the streets.
As of 6:00 Monday morning, Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says Interstate 24 looks decent and US routes are passable. He indicates there are some slick spots on roads due to packed snow from driving on them, but this is mostly on bridges and overpasses.
Sheriff White reports a couple of collisions occurred overnight but there were no injuries.
He is asking for everyone to stay off the roads unless you have to be out. If you do have to be out on the roads, drivers are urged to allow extra time to get to their destination.
