During its January session, the Caldwell County Grand Jury returned three felony indictments on multiple charges including meth possession.

Austin King, of Paducah, was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, DUI – 2nd offense, operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from November 27, 2023, when Princeton Police officers were sent to a call on Depot Street that morning about a suspicious person parked in a vehicle at some storage units. When officers arrived, they reportedly found King slouched over the steering wheel. Police knocked on the window to check on his well-being. As King opened his car door, officers reportedly noticed a clear plastic bag containing suspected meth near the driver’s seat. Police said an investigation determined that King was under the influence of intoxicants and he was taken into custody.

A true bill was returned on Joseph Daniel Abbott, of Paducah, on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree possession of a controlled substance and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

On November 26, 2023, according to the indictment, Abbott was found in possession of marijuana, Suboxone, and methamphetamine.

The grand jury indicted Donterius Matchen, also known as Woo Woo, of Bowling Green, on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, leaving the scene of an accident, and operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license.

The indictment alleges Matchen was found in possession of methamphetamine on February 15, 2023, after being involved in an accident resulting only in damage to a vehicle or other property and failed to immediately stop to ascertain the extent of injury or damage and render reasonable assistance.
