A proud graduate of Caldwell County High School in 1988, Tom embarked on a diverse career path that showcased his multitude of talents. His unwavering commitment to community involvement, especially with local youth and sports teams, reflected his passion for making a positive impact. As a radio host at WMJL and editor of the Pennyrile Edition of West Kentucky News, he became a voice that resonated across his community.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Tom’s love for classic cars became a driving force in his life. He not only indulged in this passion but also founded the Mid Atlantic Impala Association in the early 2000s, creating a community that shared his enthusiasm for these timeless vehicles. Tom’s interests extended to cooking, classic rock, graphic design, photography, and writing. As a writer, his words were not just a composition of sentences; they were a canvas of beautiful expressions that resonated with those fortunate enough to read them.
Tom, a dedicated member of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Winchester, Virginia, embraced a lifelong journey of faith that traversed various denominations, including Southern Baptist and Lutheran. He found comfort and solace in his faith. His strong connection to faith played a pivotal role, shaping his approach to life, love and community. His vibrant personality, combined with a quick wit and a heart of gold, endeared him to friends and family alike. Whether cheering on the Atlanta Braves, the New England Patriots, or the Kentucky Wildcats, Tom’s infectious enthusiasm brightened any room.
In the face of personal challenges, Tom’s resilience and determination were unwavering. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, touching countless lives in ways he might never have realized.
Preceded by his beloved son Brendan Jacob Ward and mother Sandra Faye Gray Bratcher, he is survived by his father Robert Lee Ward, wife Linda Ward of Princeton, KY, children Sierra Jordan Ward of Radford, VA, Jonah Thomas Caden Ward of Fairfax, VA, Daylan Joshua Ward of Blacksburg, VA, Elijah Julian Ward of Washington, D.C., and Brayden Javani Ward, of Front Royal, VA, and brothers Miles Ward, Cliff Southard, and Daniel Bratcher.
Visitation to celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 4-8 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by Justin Ramey, will take place on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 2:30 PM at the same location.
