First District United States Congressman James Comer says the House Oversight Committee that he chairs is focused on finding ways to eliminate wasteful government spending and developing better oversight for federal agencies.
During a conversation with Your News Edge Congressman Comer went into detail about some of what the committee is keeping an eye on.
Congressman Comer says there is quite a bit of concern in the committee about government agencies that are overstepping their bounds.
He adds some of the waste comes when Congress approves items such as road projects.
When asked about military spending, Congressman Comer says the problem is not with military leaders at Fort Campbell and other military bases, but at much higher levels.
With the United States Congress in recess this week, Congressman Comer has been visiting with groups across the district discussing several topics including a new farm bill, spending, and other concerns.
