Earl Rush, 86, of Lyon County

Earl Thomas Rush, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, in Lyon County, KY, at the age of 86. Born on February 26, 1937, in Franklin, KY, Earl was a man of honor and integrity, whose life was a testament to the values of dedication, family, and service.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Rush, who was his steadfast companion and the love of his life. Together, they built a family and a legacy that will be remembered by all who knew them. Earl was predeceased by his parents, Aubrey and Myrtle Deckard Rush, his beloved daughter, Teri Rush, and his siblings, Iva Mae Cox, Bonnie Benefield, Linda Sue Handley, Bill Rush, Leon Rush, Bob Rush, and Paul Rush. His memory will be cherished by his son, Earl A. Rush and wife Suzanne of Eddyville, KY; his brother, Roger Rush and wife Bonnie of Fredericksburg, VA; his grandchildren, Austin Rush and wife Kaycee, and Aidan Rush; and his great-grandson, Easton Rush, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and warmth.

After proudly serving his country for 20 years, Earl retired as a Navy veteran, carrying the discipline and camaraderie of military life into his civilian career. He later retired as a shipping department supervisor for Titleist Golf, where he was respected for his work ethic and leadership. Earl’s dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his community, as he was an active member of Harmony Fellowship Church in Eddyville, KY.

Earl’s life was filled with the simple pleasures of the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, often found with a fishing rod in hand or traversing the fields on his tractor. A true sports enthusiast, Earl enjoyed watching football and took great joy in watching his grandsons play baseball, cheering them on from the stands with pride.

Those who knew Earl would describe him as selfless and thoughtful, always putting the needs of others before his own. His gentle demeanor and kind spirit were a comfort to those around him. Earl’s legacy is one of love, service, and commitment to the things that mattered most to him: his family, his country, and his faith.

Visitation for Earl Rush will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Vic Hill and Bro. Keith Benefield officiating.

Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville, KY
