Rudolph Bennett, 93, of Kuttawa

Rudolph Eugene Bennett, age 93, of Kuttawa, passed away peacefully February 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Rudy was the first baby born in New York at 12:17 am January 1, 1931 to the late Eugene and Asunta “Susie” Salicco Bennett. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Briensburg, KY. He joined the United States Navy at age 17 and served during the Korean War. He was a former National Pricing Manager with Mobil Oil. After his time at Mobil Oil he moved his family from New Jersey to Kuttawa, KY, where he was the founder and owner of Kuttawa Harbor Marina and was the creator of the world famous “Rudyburger”. He was instrumental in founding the Kentucky Marina Association. He also served as city councilman in Kuttawa for many years.

He had a strong love for Jesus that was shown to many through the love that he had for his family. He was a true gentle, loving and compassionate man who loved to express his adoration for his loved ones. He enjoyed gardening, archery, feeding deer, learning about World War II history and supporting his community. Any activity involving his children and grandchildren was his first priority.

He is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Kelly Lewis) Bennett of Kuttawa, Christina (Trey) Daniels of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren, Tyler McLaurine and fiancee, Madeline Watwood, Brandon Wynn, Rudy DiBenedetto, Roman Daniels and Lauren Daniels; great-grandchild, Emmitt Wynn; nephew, Art (Rena) Bennett; several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eudell Bennett; daughter, Cynthia McLaurine; sister, Christina Chopyak; brother, Arthur Bennett.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Lakeland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 23, 2024, at Lakeland Funeral Home with Pastor Richie Clendenen and Pastor Bob Herndon officiating. Burial will follow at Kuttawa Cemetery with military honors.
