For the first time in the history of Caldwell County Public Schools, the girl’s wrestling team was recognized by the school board Tuesday night for their accomplishments at the regional and state competitions this year.
Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach presented each of the young ladies with a Certificate of Achievements.
click to download audioDuring October’s school board meeting, Dr. Roach announced that the KHSAA made a change this school year and sanctioned girls’ wrestling as its own program as girls were part of the boys’ team in the past. As a result, the board created a head coach position and a $4,500 stipend for a girls’ wrestling program in the district.
