12-19-23-arrest-2

A Princeton man was charged with arson after a fire incident on Varmintrace Road Monday morning.

Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison reports officers responded to a residence in the 700 block around 6:00 for an altercation that was occurring on the scene of a fire after a request by the Princeton Fire Department.

Officers made contact with 66-year old Scott Agnew, who reportedly informed them that the government told him to start the fire. Allison says officers determined Agnew was under the influence of intoxicants. Agnew was taken into custody and charged with second-degree arson and public intoxication.

According to Allison, officers obtained a search warrant for the property after they observed drug paraphernalia. Officers reported finding and seizing marijuana, scales, pipes, and pills. As a result, the owner of the residence, 34-year old Samantha Turner, of Princeton, was issued a citation for possessing marijuana, a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.
